Beltran, Nely

Born in Cuba in 1984, Nely Beltran was first recognized at age five as a talented artist. She developed her craft at the House of Culture in her hometown of Sancti Spiritus.

Like many Cubans seeking a better way of life, Nely and her family fled Cuba to the United States when she was nine years old. After being detained in the Cayman Islands, Nely, her family and forty others were smuggled by a local fisherman to Miami, Florida, where she now resides as a legal resident.

While attending middle school, Nely continued to refine and enhance her skills through sketching and exploring different mediums. She attended Dr. Michael M. Krop High School (Magnet- Art Program) for painting and sculpture until transferring to William H. Turner Technical Arts School Academy where she studied the art of Landscape Design. While competing in Youth Fair Competitions for Art and Design, she was recognized for her talents and was named Youth Fair Overall Champion for Landscape Design, as well as 1st Place winner in Interior Design. She currently attends the Miami International University of Art and Design for Visual Effects and Motion Graphic Design.

From exotic flowers to animals to the peaceful domain of the earth, Nely paints with acrylics, gouaches and watercolors.
